Dhawan’s domestic performances caught the attention of the IPL teams, and he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. He played a crucial role in the team’s success and was named the Emerging Player of the tournament.

He continued to play for the Delhi Daredevils in the subsequent seasons and was eventually traded to the Mumbai Indians in 2011. He played a key role in the Mumbai Indians’ success in the IPL, helping them win the title in 2013.

International Career:

Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut in an ODI against Australia in 2010. He scored only 5 runs in that match, but he soon made his mark with a brilliant century against West Indies in his third ODI. He became the first Indian to score a century on ODI debut outside India.

Dhawan’s breakthrough moment came in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, where he was the leading run-scorer and was named the Player of the Tournament. He scored two consecutive centuries in the tournament, including a match-winning 114 in the final against England.

He continued his excellent form in the subsequent ODI series against Zimbabwe, scoring two more centuries. In 2013, he made his Test debut against Australia in Mohali and scored a brilliant century in the third Test.

Dhawan’s excellent performances in the limited-overs format earned him a place in the Indian squad for the 2015 World Cup. He scored two centuries in the tournament and was the leading run-scorer for India.

In 2017, he scored his highest ODI score of 137 against Sri Lanka in a series at home. He continued to perform consistently for the Indian team and was an integral part of the team that won the 2018 Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.

In 2018, Dhawan played a crucial role in India’s historic Test series win against Australia. He scored a century in the first Test in Adelaide and was named the Player of the Match.
